These are a few of many articles showing how FAA flipflopped on Wayports. FAA was specifically directed by the U.S. Senate in Federal Legislation to make a long-term study of Wayports which has never been done. FAA still refuses to do so even though Wayports has been endorsed by respected aviation industry professionals and organizations. The TRB is currently making a study that reflects postions on this website. The study is ignoring Wayports I believe because of FAA opposition. FAA cannot produce any official long-term studies of Wayports. FAA policy for years has been all that's needed to meet long-term demand until 2025 is to expand the 35 busiest airports in the U.S. This is unrealistic in view of the fact passengers and aircraft could double during this period and the financial and environmental impacts cannot be afforded. If FAA had done the studies and sent them to Congress as directed, Wayports legislation might have been enacted.
